On the occasion of the Italy-Mexico bilateral commission, chaired in Rome by the Italian minister of foreign affairs, Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata and the Mexican foreign relations secretary, Patricia Espinosa Cantellano, the National Research Council of Italy (Cnr) and the Mexican Agency for Scientific and Technological Research (Conacyt) have signed the new agreement of cooperation which forsees the carrying out of three year long bilateral research projetcs, starting from next year.
A few priority areas of research have been indicated on the new agreement, such as biotechnology, medicine, energy, production systems, environment, materials and nanotechnologies, as well as information and communication systems and applied mathematics, provided that more areas of mutual interest can be added by the parties.
Bilateral projects will be starting in January 2013 and each party will cover the expenses of its own researchers; furthermore also free exchange of scientists between the parties and bilateral seminars can be organised within the framework of this agreement, which will have a validity of 5 years with the possibility of being renewed at the end of such period.
